STATE HOUSING

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 14. "While the Dominion must face a serious drop in building due to lack of labour and the shortage of materials, steps are being taken by the Director of Government Housing Construction to ensure an increase in the State housing programme," stated Mr. James Fletcher, chairman, in moving the adoption of accounts at the first annual meeting of Fletcher Holdings, Ltd., today. "This is possibly due to the utilisation of New Zealand manufactured materials, and today, with the exception of a very small percentage, all houses being built by the Department are made from such materials."
