ENEMY IN IRAK

RAF. ATTACKS BAGDAD AERODROME

MOSLEM MESSAGE TO RASHID ALI

LONDON, May 8,

The latest official news from Irak is contained in today's British Middle East communique, which says that heavy bombing attacks were made on the Bagdad aerodrome and on other airports occupied by the rebels.

An Irak statement says that this was followed by bombing raids .on military objectives in Bagdad, including the railway station, but this raid is not confirmed in London.

The Irakis admit that their troops at Habbania have been forced to fall back because of intense bombing.

An agency report from Cairo quotes an Egyptian Press statement that Rashid Ali has left Bagdad after a public demonstration' against his Government. This is not confirmed in London.

The Moslem tribes of India have sent a telegram to Rashid Ali in which they say that they heard with great sorrow, when the whole Islam world is in danger from" Nazi and Fascist aggressors, that Rashid Ali had ' made common cause with the enemies o£ Islam. In the name of Islam they called on him to desist and to restore friendly relations with the troops of the Empire.
