VICTORIA LEAGUE PARTY AT TRENTHAM
The V.M.C.A., Theatre at Trentham was packed on Wednesday, when an enthusiastic ' audience greeted the members of the Victoria League Concert Party. The. executive committee of the Official Camp Entertainers sponsored the entertainment., Mrs. Bessie McKihley was producer, and Miss Rita Lowe was the accompanist. . : Ballets, sketches, burlesque numbers, and short stories by Janet ■'Stirling- and Nell Kendall, all combined in making an,excellent show. All members had to respond to encores. The party comprised Mesdames Doctor and Cramond, and Misses Gi Jones, T. Jones, D. Mazengarb, M. Cook, N. Cramond, Browne, J. i. Wilson, J. Vause, B. Manttan, B. Meynard, M. Middleton, J. Algar, N. McGrath, M. Holmes, B. Burridge, E. McFarlane, G. Harison, M. Wicks, D. King, N. Gillespie,,L. LockwQod, C. Mack, M. Hunt, M. Paton, B. Basham, D. Buck, and J. Goodwin. Captain Blanchard thanked the organisers and performers, after which the guests were entertained to supper by Captain Hollis and officers. The executive wish to thank concert party members who drove their own cars, also the Automobile Association and Miss Emerson, Miss. Coltman, Miss O'Connor, Mrs. Horton, and Mrs. Clarke for providing cars, for transport. THE NEW-BOOK CLUB AT WHITCOMBE'S. For those* not desiring to take an annual or sixmonthly subscription arrangements have been made for the latest books to be secured upon payment of a nominal sum per annum and .a small rental fee for each book when it is taken out.
