CONVERSION OF CAR

Under the watchful eye of Detective G. C.'Urquhart, two seamen,-Peter Anthony Williamson, aged 35,- and Michael Cobke, aged 29, yesterday entered a car belonging to Wing Commander Olsen, and, not being able to start it, later tried the doors of at least ten other cars. In the Magistrate's .: Court today Williamson and Cooke pleaded not guilty to a charge of unlawful conversion of the wing commander's car. After Detective Urquhart. had given evidence, they were'convicted by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., and each sentenced to one month's imprisonment with-hard labour. The.men denied being in the car, and said that they had lifted up the bonnet to see if the engine was like a ship's engine. They also denied trying the doors of the other cars.
