TRAINING IN BRITAIN

YOUNG INDIAN WORKERS

RUGBY, April 29

Significant of the co-operation between India and England in armaments production is a scheme for bringing Indian workers to Britain for training. A number are coming to be trained at the Government's training centres, and they will return to their own country with the knowledge they have gained to assist in the development of the war industries of India.

The recruiting of the first batch to arrive has been' carried out by the Indian national service labour tribunals. This batch is 50 strong, and consists of young men from all parts of India who have already had a certain amount of industrial experience. These are only the vanguard; a further batch will follow, and if the scheme is a success others will follow them. The training course will be similar to that given to the English trainees. In addition to their board and lodging, the Indians will receive Bs-a week pocket money, and their dependants' allowances will be paid by the Government of India.—B.O.W.
