SCIENTIFIC SPHERE

LONDON, April 29

The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Butler, stated in the House of Commons today that the Government had already put into operation a comprehensive scheme for scientific co-operation with the United States. The director of the. National Physical Laboratory, Dr. Darwin, had been sent to America to work in connection with the British Supply Council in North America. He would collaborate with research bodies in the United States and would act as a channel for the exchange of scientific and technical information between the two countries. Mr. Butler disclosed that the president of Harvard University had recently visited this country as President Roosevelt's representative in order to set up a corresponding mission in this country.
