On a'turnover of upwards of half a million shares, the largest in three weeks, stocks have edged forward. Coal railroad, and gold stocks hardened and Government Bonds were firm. Australian shares moved upward by a fraction. Wheat, which has been fluctuating lately, closed unchanged.

Most commodities worked to a higher market generally, and probably reflect the stern confidence that, despite war reverses, American aid will eventually turn the grim tide.—U.P.A.
