BEWARE OF THE IRISH

Warning to Germany

LONDON, April 29

"In the face of 'the Nazis we all sink our differences," said a London commentator "today, "and this is even seen in the case of Ireland, and Ireland is not exactly a country known for its unanimity of opinion. You will remember that* when Belfast was bombed a fortnight ago fire-fighting equipment was rushed up from neutral Dublin to help put out the flames. The Germans, by the way, must have been very angry indeed about this, and: I have heard it said that they even dropped leaflets in Eire warning the Dubliners that if they tried that sort of thing again they might be given some fires of their own to put out. It remains' to be seen how the Irish people react to this sort of thing. They have in the past not been in the habit of accepting advice accompanied by threats."
