MIDDLE EAST

PRESENT POSITION

QUESTION OF SESSION

N.Z.'S ATTITUDE

In view of Mr. Churchill's statement in the House of Commons on the question of discussions on the position in

recce, the Prime Minister (Mr. Frsser) was asked this afternoon if it was likely that the situation might also be discussed by the New Zealand House of Representatives.

"If, after consultation with Great Britain, and Australia, sessions are considered necessary to discuss the Middle East situation." said Mr. Fraser, "then similar arrangements will be immediately made here." At present the House of Representatives stands adjourned until June 25, but the adjournment was taken to that date on the understanding that should circumstances warrant it the House would be called together before that time.
