"I felt a proud man1 to have' the privilege of marching at the head of the Emergency Precautions Scheme units on Saturday, and would like to express my congratulations to all members of-the scheme who-took part in the parade," said, the Mayor, Mr. Hislop, last night. "Special appreciation is due .to the staff and the controllers of all' Units for the .preliminary work so well done, to the traffic officers, including the special traffic men enrolled in the Emergency Precautions Scheme, for their work on the" route, and. to the bands for their part; "Much hard, work has gone to the building up of the Emergency Precautions Scheme, Mr. Hislop continued, "and much is still to be done; but I feel all of us in the organisation can take legitimate pride in Saturday's parade and from it gain encouragement for our future work. My thanks to all for their splendid turnout. The women and qMs are deserving of special congratulations. ' "Though not of their number, but as one who played. a part in the building up of their organisation, I should like to congratulate the Home Guard on their fine showing. Between them and the members of the Emergency Precautions Scheme is a firm, bond of comradeship and healthy rivalry." ___________________
