LADY FOWLDS'S DEATH
WIDOW OF FIRST MEMBER
FOR GREY LYNN
The death occurred on Wednesday after a briet illness of Lady Fowlds. widow of the late Sir George Fowlds, first member of Parliament for Grey Lynn and a former Cabinet Minister. Sir George founded the firm of George Fowlds, Limited. Lady Fowlds was in her 83rd year.
While not able to take a prominent part in public activities. Lady Fowlds was associated with her husband in many of the public-spirited movements which he assisted almost until the time of his death in 1934. Like her husband, she came from the parish of Chiphall. Fenwick, Ayrshire. They were married in South Africa in 1884, and because of her health they came to New Zealand the next year.
Lady Fowlds leaves three daughters and three sons,' Mrs. C. Littlejohn and Mrs. A. S. Bailey, of Auckland, and Mrs. J. H. Hoppes. of Portland. Oregon, and Messrs. G. M Fowlds. W F. Fowlds, and John Fowlds, of Auckland.
