BOMBER SHOOTS DOWN FIGHTER

(British oniciai Wireless..

RUGBY. April 6.

On its way to Brest on Thursday night a heavy R.A.F. bomber was followed by a Messerschmitt 110. The enemy was flying along 300 feet below, and for five minutes the British rear gunner watched for an opportunity. Then he fired 150 rounds and saw that the bullets had entered the Messcrschmitt's fuselage near the cockpit. The enemy made a tight loop and then dived towards the sea, leaving a trait of smoke behind. A dull red glow shone through the haze and then was suddenly extinguished. The bomber then went on to Brest and joined in the attack on the docks, where the Schan.horst and Gneisenau are sheltering.
