His Excellency the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Colonial Appointments Selection Board held at Government House.

The Leader of the LegislatiA'e Council (the Hon. D. Wilson) returned to Wellington from Auckland today. On Sunday afternoon Mr. Wilson attended the ceremony held at Bastion Point to mark the first anniversary of the death of the Rt. Hon. M. J. SaA'age, and as Minister in Charge of Broadcasting, he spent yesterday dealing Avith broadcasting business in Auckland.

Th Minister of Labour (Mr. Webb) and the Minister of Education (Mr. Mason) arrived from Auckland today.

The Hon. Adam Hamilton arrived in Wellington from the south by the steamer express this morning.

Major-General Sir AndreAv Russell, Inspector-General of the New Zealand Forces, arrived from the south by this morning's steamer express.

Mr. E. H. Stennett, managing director of the Aspro organisation in Australia, is visiting New Zealand. He is accompanied by Mrs. Stennett. They travelled by air from Australia and are at present, staying at the Hotel Waterloo.

Cabled advice has been received by Mr. and Mrs. D. Syme, of Eltham, from their son, Mr. Ronald Syme. who for some time past has been holding an important position on the British diplomatic staff in Belgrade, stating that he is safe and avcll.

Mr. G. K. Hansard, Auckland, has been appointed managing director of J. J. Niven and Co.. Ltd., in the "place of the late Mr. E. W. Maclean.

Mr. Justice Blair has returned to Wellington from Auckland.
