PRISONER PROBLEM
What to do Avith the thousands of Italian prisoners taken in the Libyan campaign has been providing the British military authorities with a thornier problem than capturing (hem. The prisoners came from the desert packed in open trucks and standing up like a variegated bunch of asparagus. SAvarthy. ill-clad Libyans and the paler, smart, but exceedingly dusty Italians. were all unanimous on one point. They are most thankful to be out of the war. But to feed and guard this vast horde in a country with such limited facilities as Egypt added a grcal load to British responsibilities. Camps are being prepared in New Delhi. India, for the internment of Italian prisoners. Fortunately with the prisoners Britain also took their supplies. Otherwise it would haA^e been practically impossible to look after them during the interval between capturing them and getting them to Alexandria.
