DESTROYED BY FIRE

THE FAMOUS BATH CLUB

LONDON, March 31

The famous Bath Club in Piccadilly has been destroyed by fire, but not through enemy action. Only the walls remain.

The fire blazed furiously for hours, and destroyed valuable pictures and furnishings. There were only a dozen guests at the time and all except one, a flight lieutenant in the R.A.F., escaped. Presumably he was suffocated by smoke in his bedroom.

The two Royal Princesses learned swimming at the club, and were successful at a competition in 1939, when the Queen presented the prizes. The King and his brothers also had swimming lessons at the club.
