POLICE FIRE SHOT
FUGITIVE WOUNDED
CHASE IN THE DARK
RESULT OF VIGIL

AUCKLAND, This Day
Police who were keeping watch early today at an Epsom house which had been robbed saw a man approach, accosted him, and fired a shot when he ran away.
Detective Palmer called on the man to stop, and on his continuing to run fired a shot in the dark, hitting him in the upper part of the right leg. The man, who is about 35 years of age, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital. His condition is reported as fairly serious.
The house is owned by Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Woodger. of 36 Owens Road, Epsom, who returned home yesterday
