WAGON DERAILED
HOLD-UP ON MAIN LINE
The first of four meat wagons attached to a passenger train from Paekakariki was partially derailed on the Wellington side of the first Tawa Flat deviation tunnel a few minutes before 9 o'clock this morning. The front bogey of the wagon left the rails about two hundred yards from the tunnel and the train travelled about half a mile before stopping. Damage to the permanent way was confined to the scoring of sleepers, and axle boxes on the derailed bogey were broken. Only slight delay occurred in the arrival of the balance of the train in the city, and a passenger train from the Hutt Valley was held up for a few minutes as a result. The Limited express from Auckland, which had arrived about ten minutes late at Tawa Flat, came into Wellington on the up line at 10.30. a delay of 50 minutes having been caused by the mishap to the wagon. Other traffic was not affected. The blocked line was cleared during the morning.
