POWER OF R.A.F.
INCREASING RANGE
NEW BOMBER IN USE
THE SHORTrSTIRLING
LONDON, February 28.
Since the beginning of the war,, British bombers have regularly flown great distances in their raids on Germany and occupied territory. Now, as new types of aircraft come into operation, the range is being steadily increased. Distance is becoming of little importance, and if Germany tries to move her industries eastwards, the R.A.F. will still attack them.
In a raid on German-occupied territory a few night ago the R.A.F. used Short-Stirling four-engined bombers
for the first time. These aircraft are described by the technical journal "The Aeroplane" as being the most powerful military aeroplanes at present in service in any air force in the world. They comprise great loadcarrying power and high speed with very powerful defensive armament.
"The Aeroplane" points out that the addition of the Short-Stirlings to the British force will greatly increase the power to strike at.the heart of enemy territory. With other still newer types and reinforcements from the United States, the R.A.F, will be able to make more intensive attacks on\ selected targets.
