MASTERTON SHOW
THE OPENING DAY
QUALITY WELL MAINTAINED
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
MASTERTON, This Day.
Ideal weather prevails for the opening of the Masterton Show at Solway today. Although the entries show a decrease compared with last year, the quality of stock is well "maintained, and the principal district breeders, besides a number of exhibitors from outside the Wairarapa, are well represented. The judging of sheep, cattle, and pigs is proceeding today. In the evening a night session is being held at which a programme of events by concert parties, inter-house girls, and others is being put on in aid of the Queen Carnival campaign. People's Day will be observed to morrow, when the judging of horses, dogs, etc., will take place. The entries in the horse classes almost equal those of last year, while in the dog section there is a substantial increase. The horticultural exhibits are also well above last year's entries. The cattle, sheep, and competition classes all show a decrease, but the quality has not suffered. The total entries number 1975, compared with 2266 last year.
