WELSH SOCIETY

The Welsh Society's first social evening for 1941 took the form of a welcome to the Rev. Gladstone Hughes and Mrs. Hughes. Among those present were Canon' and Mrs. D. J. Da vies, Mr. Rees-Jones, and Mr. Reg. Morgan. The president, Mr. Tucker, from a letter read a message of greeting and cheer to the Welsh people of Wellington from Mr. D. R. Grenfell, who visited New Zealand last year. A short but interesting address was given by Mr. Hughes. In course of it he mentioned that the name of his Welsh birthplace translated into English meant Church Hill. Items were given by Mr. Reg. Morgan, Miss P. Morgan, Mrs. Wilman, Mr. Swain, Miss Dinney, and Joy Graham. .
