A, motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. A. W. Collett was passed by the Petone Borough Council last evening. Mr. Collett, who died at Taumarunui, was a member of the first borough council in Petone, and came Of a pioneer family. The Deputy Mt.yor (Mr. J. C. Burn) remarked that members of the fifth generation were now residing in Petone.
Major-General Sir Andrew Russell, Inspector-General of the New Zealand Military Forces, arrived front the south today.
