REASONS GIVEN
British Successes in Africa
LONDON, February 16,
Lord Croft, Joint Under-Secre-tary of State for War, today gave four reasons for the British successes in Africa. First, he said, was supreme skill in initiative and leadership combined with the high pitch of training and morale of our men; second, tanks, mobile artillery, vehicles, and machine-guns of super excellence; third, the magnificent contribution of the Royal Air Force; and fourth, the fact that we could spare ships of the Royal Navy to hold the Mediterranean and co-operate very satisfactorily.
Lord Croft said that besides the Libyan campaign General Wavell's forces were today' thrusting forward in eight different directions, all converging into the very heart of Italy's East African empire.
