SOUTHERN ITALY

U.S. CONSULS ASKED TO GO

WASHINGTON, February 15.

The State Department said that the Italian Foreign Office had requested the United States Consuls in Naples =md Palermo to withdraw, presumably because of war operations. They are believed to be the only Americans south of Rome.

The Italian action is believed to be a sequel to expulsions of foreign correspondents from the zone.
