HUTT FIREMEN
AWARDS PRESENTED
The annual reunion of the Lower Hutt Fire Brigade was held on Saturday evening. Deputy Superintendent T. S. Slinn received his 25 years' gold service star, Fireman L. Doran his gold badge and gold star for 31 years' service, and two-year silver bars were awarded to the following, the figures after the names indicating the number of years' service:—Superintendent H. Hume, 9; Third Officer W. Drieberg, 15; Firemen H. Wilson, 23; E. Hutton, 15; N. Francis, 13; W. McGinity, 11; R. Bartley, 11; T. Piper, 9.
Three years' service certificates were awarded to Firemen A. Doran, D. Heney, L. Pettigrew, T. Jarvis, and J. Piper.
The following trophies were presented:—Dr. Bolt Cup, two-man event, Firemen R. Bartley and L. Pettigrew; Baldwin Cup, one-man event, Fireman L. Pettigrew, 1; Deputy-Superintendent Slinn, 2; fastest time in wet and dry events combined, Fireman R. Bartley; fastest time in dry event, Fireman L. Pettigrew; fastest time in wet event, Third Officer W. Drieberg; Andrews Cup, four-man event, Third Officer W. Drieberg and Firemen W. McGinity, T. Piper, and H. Millier; Billiards and Snooker Cup, Third Officer W. DriSberg and Fireman E. Hutton (held jointly). The presentations were made by the Mayor of Lower Hutt (Mr. J. W. Andrews).
