The Minister of Supply arid Munitions (Mr. Sullivan) has returned from the south.
The Attorney-General (Mr. Mason) returned from Auckland today.
Captain E. Y. Comrie, N.Z.M.C. Army Headquarters, Wellington, left for Waiouru this afternoon.
Mr. A. I. Rainbow? Deputy Mayor of Hastings, has acceded to the request of a representative deputation to be nominated as a candidate for the Hastings Mayoralty. The present Mayor,. Mr. G. A. Maddisori, is not seeking re-election.
Mr. G. A. Kain, well-known studmaster of Orari, has been appointed officer commanding the Southern Remount Depot, with rank of lieutenant.
Mr. Walter B. Harris, lecturer at the Teachers' Training College, Christchurch, has been appointed supervisor of teaching aids in the Education Department, Wellington.
Mr. S. F. Cowan, assistant manager of the Christchurch branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has been appointed manager of the Ashburton branch in: succession to Mr. A. P. Matthews, who will retire at the end of May. ■ . • ■
