IMPORTANT WORK
WELLINGTON CENTRE .MEETING
Congratulations on the many important activities of the Wellington Centre of the St. John Ambulance Association were extended to its members at the annual meeting last night by the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop), who presided.'by Sir James Elliott, and by Mr. C- S. Falconer on behalf of Sir Charles Statham, who was unable to attend. Financial difficulties were mentioned, and the Mayor said that the centre was doing important work which should not suffer for lack of financial support.
The following officers were elected:— President, the Mayor, Mr. T. C'A. Hislop; vice-presidents, Archbishop O'Shea, Mrs. W. J. Helyer, Bishop Holland, Mr. W. A. Armour, Bishop Sprott, Dr. J. Cairney (Medical Superintendent, Wellington Public Hospital), the Commissioner of Transport (Mr. G. L. Laurenson), the General Manager of Railways (Mr. E. Casey), the Commissioner of Police (Mr. D. J. Cummings), Colonel J. L. Saunders (Director Dental Division), Lady Elliott (president, 'Order of St. John Women's War, Committee); general committee, Mrs. C. B. Gaby, Mrs. E. M. Osborn, Dr; S. Harcourt Arthur, Mr. Frank Kennedy, Dr. C. Gordon Kemp, Senior-Sergeant G. J. Paine, Mrs. Balcombe Brown,/ Mr. J. W. Collins, Mr. Charles Clabburn, Mr. F. W. Ward, Miss H. McKnight, Dr. C. G. Morice, Sir James Elliott, Mr. S. J. Harrison, Mr. J. Annand-Smith, Mr. H. A. Huggins; Chief Inspector E. H. Barrett (Transport Department); auditors, James Kellow and Son; hon. treasurer, Mr. H. A. .The Mayor presented voluntary aid certificates and the-meeting was concluded with the screening by the secretary (Mr. C. Meachen) of a film showing how to .deal with incendiary Bombs. 0
