THE PRIZE LIST

I The biggest horticultural display yet held in Lower Hutt—the _ combined show of the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society and the New Zealand Dahlia ; Society—was opened yesterday afternoon by the Bishop of Wellington, the [ Rt. It ' was a great honour to open the first flower show in Lower Hutt city. The beauty of Nature had a definite J spiritual value and also a physical ( value. He now hoped to avoid hog' ] pitals by obeying the orders, of his doctor to spend one day. a week in his 1 garden. Recently he had become the ; inheritor of a garden and it made him ' feel "on top of the world." He had said that, like the Bible, Lower Hutt ; began in a garden and ended in a city, ' but he now wished to say that it ought ' to keep the garden in the forefront of ■ the city and see that its Town Planning Officer was a lover of gardens and that its Mayors, like the present one, spent time in grubbing for ferns (laughter).
