AWAPUNI GALLOPS
CATALOGUE RESUMES WORK
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
PALMERSTON N., This Day
Conditions for work at Awapuni yesterday morning were ideal except for fog which hid the pegs in the early hours. The flags on the course proper were over near the outside fence. Gold Bridge and Rose Acre were together and going easily at the end of seven furlongs, the last five of which took lmin 7 3-ssec. Premature galloped half a mile on the course proper but could not be timed, and Colonel Bogey' was given a working gallop over seven furlongs. His next race will probably be in the Woodville Cup. Myarion and Wildfire were going along comfortably at the end of seven furlongs, the last three of which took 42sec. Manahau and Civilian were timed to run the last three furlongs of five in 41 2-ssec. Newbury Queen slipped over three furlongs in 40sec. Old Bill has picked up a lot since he returned from Trentham, and he was out trotting and cantering. He has Jjeen entered for a six-furlong race at Woodville. Catalogue, -who broke down during the running of the Wellington Cup, has shaken off the lameness, and A. McDonald is hopeful he will stand up to another preparation.
