OBJECTIONS TO FIGHTING

MEDICAL CORPS WORK

Of five appellants against military service who appeared before the Armed Forces Appeal Board yesterday afternoon to claim exemption for reasons of conscience three had their cases disposed of in a few minutes because they stated that, while objecting to taking life, they were willing serve in the Medical Corps. They were recommended for such service. The other two appellants opposed any form of military service. Leonard Robert Jenkins, a draper, said that he had trained for medical corps work, and he asked the board to recommend that he should be posted to the Medical Corps. The chairman said the board was prepared to make such a recommendation, and Jenkins withdrew his appeal. Guy McCallum, a batcher and concrete operator, who said he belonged' to the Exclusive Brethren, made a similar request. His appeal was dismissed with a recommendation that he should be posted to the Medical Corps. I
