GIVEN TO NAZIS BY FRANCE

ATTACHMENT WRIT IN U.S.

(Received February 7, 1.15 p.m.)

NEW YORK, February 6.

The exiled Belgian Government has obtained an attachment writ against .the Bank of France funds in the United States to an amount of 260,000,000 dollars. The Belgians claim that the National Bank of Belgium handed over to _ the Bank of France 260,000,000 dollars worth of gold for safe keeping during the invasion of Belgium, but the Bank of France, despite Belgian opposition, sent gold to Dakar, whence i the French are now taking the gold to Paris for delivery to the Germans. The Belgian Ambassador stated that France, if it persists, will be forced to replace every ounce of the gold handed over to the Germans.
