HEAVY FIGHTING
ENEMY'S DIFFICULT POSITION
LONDON, February 2,
■ It is reported that there was heavy fighting before Britishj troops entered Agordat. South-west of • Agordat, at Barentu, the Italians are in a difficult position. Communications to the coast have been cut.^and the enemy are com"pletely cut off in that direction. - Imperial troops have closed in around Barentu, but it is thought that a secondary road which leads to the "east.is still open to the retreating Italians. .West of Derna, in Libya, a Reuter correspondent says, more stubborn resistance is being offered. The present Italian operations may be a rearguard action or the start of a real attempt to hold up the British advance in that .■area. . •;_ '■■.
