FLYING THE FLAG

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—l read in tlie "Evening Post" on Saturday night that an appeal for National Security Loans in Canada was accompanied by showers of Union Jacks let loose from the air into the streets. And I think that a* little more flag waving wouldn't do any harm here. Through all the victories in Egypt and Libya—five or six wonderful victories and a hundred thousand prisoners and millions of pounds' worth of war equipment captured—not a single de' monstration here in New Zealand or a flag flown. What's the. matter with us New Zealand people? If the Government were to replace patriotic talks for the Social Justice talk on Sunday nights I am sure the Government would get better results with their National Savings Account drive. Anyway, shake the moths out of our bunting and let the flags fly when we have a win. Buck up New Zealanders.— I am, etc., \ AN N.Z. EX-DIGGER.
