TURF NEWS IN BRIEF
Acceptances for the final aay of the Wellington Meeting next Wednesday are due at 9 o'clock this evening. Parekura, Ninia, and Golden Pam were wrongly included in the acceptances for the Ashhurst Meeting next Wednesday. Kindergarten, winner of the Wellington Cup, was sent back to Ellerslie yesterday. Catalogue's breakdown occurred about 3£ furlongs from the finish in the Wellington Cup, and as it was in his sound leg it probably means the end of his racing career. Classform, who has been spelling since the winter, resumed work last week and she is said to have come back looking in splendid order to face another preparation. Royce, the two-year-old Vaals — Limeen colt, has been sold by Mr. Mr. J. Moodabe and has entered J. M Buchanan's stable at Ellerslie. He will be raced by Dr. M. G. Pezaro in partnership with his trainer. The National Yearling Sales will be conducted at the sales stable at Trentham on Monday and Tuesday next, commencing at 10.30 on each day. The usual parade will be held at Trentham tomorrow afternoon.
Kincardine, the sire of Kindergarten, is without a single representative in this year's National Yearling Sales. Nightward ' Mr. W. H. Gaisford's high-priced full-brother to Serenata made a good impression when he paraded for his first race in the Fitzherbert Handicap at Trentham on Thursday, but no line was secured on his race ability, as he was very slow to begin from No. 2 marble and was well back all the way.
The William Reid Stakes to be run at the Moonee Valley Meeting next Saturday is the most important sprint event in Australia between the summer and autumn meetings. The.Night Patrol, Heroic, Gothic, and Waltzing Lily are among the famous winners of this event, which is expected to attract a good field this year.
High Caste will not run in the Challenge Stakes at Randwick next Saturday. This sprint handicap, for which the stake is £1000, was won last year by High Caste, who beat Caesar at level weights. Caesar, who is tubed, won the Carrington Stakes on December 28, but High Caste was asked to concede him 231b and Beaulivre 101b in the Challenge Stakes, and the compliment was not appreciated.
