MAKARA COUNTY

NO OVERSEAS SERVICE

APPEALS

The Makara County Council today decided against supporting any appeals for its employees drafted for service overseas. Many.of its employees had already volunteered, said the chairman, Mr. E. Windley, and their places would^ be open for them on their return. It was realised that there would be a shortage of staff, but the council would carry on as best it cQuld. It felt that it must play its part by doing all that was possible to bring the war to a successful conclusion.
