ONLY NECESSARY WORKS

The council, remarked Councillor Bothamley had already come to the decision that it was unable to carry out the. work owing to the expense. In any case, the income of the county, judging by recently-published statements regarding meat exports, would be considerably affected, and the council would, in conjunction with other local bodies', have to curtail all expenditure that was not absolutely necessary.
