WASHINGTON, January 16.
"The problem for me is nqt so much keeping America out of war, as keeping war out of America," said the Secretary of War, Mr. H. L. Stimson, when giving evidence .before the Foreign Affairs Committee on the AM to Britain Bill.
"The United States of America," continued Mr. Stimson, "faces a more critical period than that of 1917. The British Fleet stands alone as an obstacle to German control of the Atlantic.
"I think we are in very great danger of invasion by air in the event of the British Navy being destroyed or surrendered." Mr. Stimson urged prompt approval, of the Bill as the best and simplest means of defence.
Mr. Stimson said that the Bill was based on the proposition that the defence of America depends largely
