MEN ENTERTAINED
CONCERT AT TRENTHAM
ITEMS FROM "RIO RITA"
On. Wednesday night many soldiers at Trentham had their first experience of a concert arranged by the Official Camp Entertainers. The party was taken out by Mrs. W. Dennistoun-Wood (hon. organiser) and Mrs, Gwen Webb (hon ; secretary), and the programme was' arranged by Mrs. Charles MacDonald and led by Miss Eva Moore. Many of the items, some of which were given by the cast of "Rio Rita," which was recently presented in Wellington, werevigorously encored by the men, who were finally moved, unprompted, to accord the entertainers musical honours.
Miss Eva Moore's clever introductory remarks were appreciated by the large audience, which also showed its approval of the duets, dances, and sketches, she had arranged and which were performed by the "Rio Rita" cast. Miss Vivienne Blamires gave violin solos and Miss Ngaire Harrison, in colourful Hungarian costume, gave solo dances. Others who took part were Mesdames Connolly and Ina Gyles, Misses Eva Moore, Rita Kemp, Winnie Male, Gwynneth Greenwood, Mollie Cook, Olga Miller, Laurie Jones, and P. Hyams, and Messrs. Connolly, C. Tilley, Boyle, and C. Dowling. Mrs. Mac Donald and Miss Greenwood played the accompaniments, assisted by Mr. Connolly on the drums. Captain Hopkirk thanked the performers, and Major Mitchell and officers of No. 1 Training Unit entertained them to supper.
The executive wishes to thank the Automobile Association and Messrs. Donnelly, Tobin, Bacon, Sapsford, Gunnion, and Cooper for providing transport.
