Within half an hour of the Mendoza anchoring a British auxiliary warshi" took up station at the mouth of th River Plate, evident^ with the inten tion of preventing the Mendoza fror proceeding to Europe. The coming c dawn enabled it to be confirmed tha the ship guarding the mouth of th river was the Asturias. (British OtlK-iui Wireless.) (Received January 16, 2 p.m.) RUGBY, January 15. It was stated today at the Ministr of Economic Warfare that there is n question of lifting the blockade in fay our of the French 8000-ton steamshi; Mendoza and four other French ships the Katiola, Formose, Campana, an* Aurigny, which 'completed loading a Montevideo ostensibly for France. No applications for navicerts hai been made for their cargoes.
