TEA IN QUEENSLAND
GROWING NOT ECONOMIC
POSSIBILITY

SYDNEY, January 9,
Mr. J. R. Vincent, a retired teaplanter living in Sydney, expressed the opinion that enough tea could be groAvn in North Queensland to satisfy the entire needs of Australia. Mr. Vincent, who had many years of experience in tea groAving at Travancore, south-west India, declares that conditions are ideal in north Queensland, where Avomen and children could do the tea plucking.
The Queensland Minister of Agriculture said that tea groAving in
Queensland was not an economic possibility under Australian industrial conditions. NeA'ertheless his Department had groAvn good tea experimentally.
