FUNERALS OF ACCIDENT VICTIMS
The funeral of the late Mr. H. J. Davies, chief steward of an overseas ship, who was killed in a motor accident on New Year's .Day, took place at Karori yesterday morning. There was a short service in Wellington conducted by the Rev. A. F. Collard Scruby, of St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, who also took the service at the graveside.
The pall-bearers were Captain E. T. Grayson, Mr. Evans (chief engineer), Mr. W. Sare (third officer), Mr. D. O. Jarman, Captain T. Morgan, Private W. J, Langdon (Territorial Force), Messrs. E. Hudson, T. Taylor, C. Logan, R. Vickery, and. E. A. Henry, and Captain A. Black.
Among those who attended were Captain A. Mclntosh (Marine Superintendent, Shaw, Savill and Albion Co.. Ltd.). Messrs. D. A. Robertson and J. S. Swan, Wellington office of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Co., Ltd., Captain G. Lidgett (Lloyd's surveyor), Mr. J. Dawson (Inspector of Machinery, Marine Department), Lieutenant-Col-onel Donaldson, and many of the company of the ship with which Mr. Davies had been associated.
The funeral of Dr. Andrew Currie, of the same ship, who died of injuries received in the accident, will take place on Monday morning, and will be attended by membors of the Scottish Societies. Dr. Currie was a native of Argyllshire.
