SUNK IN ADRIATIC

FOUR ITALIAN SHIPS

REPORTED ACTION BY BRITISH WARSHIP

LONDON, January 1

A report from Belgrade says that a] British warship has sunk four Italian supply ships in the Adriatic. They were in a convoy escorted by destroyers. Passengers in a Yugoslav ship say that a British submarine came to the surface and effectively shelled the convoy.. The ships are reported to have been carrying heavy and motor vehicles for the Italians in Albania.

The Yugoslavs say that the attack took place off a point on the coast where the Yugoslav and Albanian frontiers meet, which means that the British warship was 100 miles inside the Adriatic.
