GERMANY'S CHANCES

Diminished in Last Six Months

LONDON, January 1

Two interesting views on Germany's chance of winning the war come from Sweden, a country which Germany considers within her sphere of influence.

A well-known military writer states that the possibility of Germany obtaining a rapid decision has diminished in the past six months., He says that a quick assault on the British coast might have been successful last summer, but that such an attempt could now be made only as a last and extremely risky resort.

A Swedish newspaper, reviewing the events of 1940, says that after September 15 Germany's air hopes faded. In Germany, the paper adds, this is now becoming obvious, and there is great unrest among the people.
