ONE POSTHUMOUS

Official advice has been received by Air Headquarters that the New Year Honours List includes the following personnel born in New Zealand, with distinctions as shown. Commander of the Most Excellent Order of,the 9ritish : Empire. Air Commodore C. R. Carr, R.A.F. Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. Pilot Officer J. Paterson (later killed). " Air Force Cross. < Squadron Leader S. Elworthy. Squadron Leader A. Gordon, R.A.F." Mentioned in Dispatches. ; Wing Commander A. McKee, R.A.F. Wing Commander M. W. Buckley* R.N.Z.A.F. Pilot Officer C. E. Evison, R.A.F. Commendations. Wing Commander J. G. Skeet, R.A.F.M.S.. Wing Commander A. McKee, of Oxford, Canterbury, took up flying in 1926 and went to England to join the R.A;F. He was awarded the D.F.C. for his skill and presence of mind in extricating his squadron from a most difficult position during a raid on the mouth of the Elbe and the Frisian Islands on December 14, 1939. Pilot Officer C. E. Evison is the son, of Mr. C. C. H. Evison, of Aarfield, Canterbury, and is 24 years of age. He was educated at Ashburton High School, and joined the Air Force -in 1937, when he was granted a shortservice commission. Wing Commander M. W. Buckley was born in Dunedin, the son of Mr. F. H. Buckley, of Fairlie.. He was educated at Timaru Boys' High School and served in the last war, attaining the rank of captain. Wing Commander J. G. Skee,t was educated at Nelson" College and studied medicine in London until 1913: He served throughout the last war and was transferred to the Royal Air Forced in 1919. •
