ATTACK ON SHEFFIELD
WIDESPREAD DESTRUCTION

LONDON, December 13
Large formations of raiders were continuously over Sheffield last night, causing widespread destruction. Cinemas, shops, stores, and houses were destroyed. The total of killed and wounded is not knownt but is described as amazingly low.. Commercial, shopping, and residential districts were considerably damaged. Heavy anti-aircraft batteries were in action. The raiders machine-gunned fire-j men at work on the fires in a work-; ing-class area. Most of the fires were quickly ex- j tinguished, but the larger ones burned for some hours. A number of bodies'are still under the wreckage. Some streets were blocked by debris. A number of time-bombs exploded today. Two enemy bombers were destroyed.
