FAT SHEEP IN.DEMAND

Unchanged prices ruled in all sections of the Feilding stock sale yesterday except for store cattle, which were decidedly weaker in price and demand than last week. Fat sheep: There was a steady demand for all classes of mutton, the entry not being in excess of market requirements. Extra prime ewes made 18s Id to 19s lOd, prime 16s 7d to 17s 10d, unfinished 13s 3d to 15s 6d; extra prime wethers 23s iOd to 24s lOd, prime 22s to 23s 7d. iight 19s 4d to 21s 7d; prime hoggets 29s Id, light prime 23s 7d to 25s 4d; best lambs 22s 4d, small 19s lOd to 20s 7d. Store sheep: There was not much inquiry for the few lines of store sheep offering, the only sale being two-tooth ewes at 27s 9d. Store cattle: Station cattle were in good supply, but the demand fell away compared with that of the past two or three weeks, and many lots were passed in at auction, A good proportion of young stock was sold, however. Good two-year A.A. heifers sold for £6 9s to £6 16s, smaller £5 9s to £5 14s; best yearling A.A. heifers £4 14s to £5 Is, smaller £3 13s to £4 ss; good two-year A.A. steers £7 Is to £7 10s, smaller £5 17s to £6 ss; yearling A.A. .steers £4 to £5 2s; yearling Hereford heifers £4 15s; well-grown two-year Hereford steers £7; A.A. cows and calves £7 10s 6d; A.A. cows £5 7s 6d; three-year A.A. steers £8 Is; two-year Shorthorn steers £6 ss; works cows, heavy £4 10s to £5 12s 6d; others £3 10s to I£4 4s; ex-dairy cows and calves £4 10s; yearling Jersey heifers £5 10s, culls £1 15s. Dairy cattle: Late rates were paid for a light entry of cows and heifers. Best springing heifers brought £7 5s to £8 12s 6d, others £5 7s 6d to £6 15s; good springing cows £7 to £8 ss, others £5 15s to £6 15s. Fat cattle: No heavyweight beef was on offer and prices remained about on a par with last week's. Prime A.A. cows made £8 12s 6d to | £9 15s, light prime £7 10s to £8 7s! 6d, unfinished and ex-dairy sorts £5J 17s 6d to £7 ss; prime heifers £10 7s 6d, light £6 17s 6d to £7 17s 6d, exdairy sorts £4 19s 6d to £6 ss; light prime cxen £10 17s 6d; runners £4 17s 6d to £6 12s; vealers £1 15s to £3 7s 6d.
