TOWED INTO PORT

TRAWLER MARINA

ENGINE FAILURE IN COOK

STRAIT

As the 58-foot motor trawler Marina was returning to Wellington from Cape Campbell last night, her engine broke down just outside the heads and, with the probability of a southerly rising and the danger of going ashore, she was taken in tow by the coastal steamer Totara. She arrived alongside the Railway Wharf at 12.15 a.m. today.

Owned by the Kilbirnie Fish Supply, the Marina was formerly the Marconi, but was renamed when she was taken over by a British crew - when Italy entered the war. She is a 20-ton vessel built in Picton three years ago. Her master is Captain George Cardno and she carries a crew of four.
