(Received December 3, 11 p.m.)
HANOI, December 2.
It is officially announced that several Thai planes dropped nine bombs but failed to hit the 500-ton French armed riverboat Beryle near Kone Island, Gulf of Siam. Two planes later renewed the attack. The Beryle returned the fire, and is believed to have damaged one plane which escaped.
It is reported that Thai troops have occupied Bandong, an unprotected island in the Mekong River.
