TO AVOID TROUBLE

N.Y.K. PASSING HONG KONG

(Received November 28, 11 a.m.)

SHANGHAI, November 27

Nippon Yusen Kaisha liners will not call at Hong Kong on their southward voyages after December 12. No reason has been given, but it is suggested that it is intended to give nationals of the Rome-Berlin Axis an exit to the south without the ships stopping at Hong Kong, where they would be subject to seizure.
