The Government's policy regarding interned aliens of enemy nationality as announced in the House of Commons by the Home Secretary, Mr. Morrison, is mainly directed towards those men who are of military age. For this purpose the Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps is' considered the best method of dealing with such men who wish to show loyalty to the Allied cause. Internees eligible for the pioneer corps have volunteered. Mr. Morrison hopes to set up within the next few weeks a tribunal to consider the release of men who by reason of age or physical unfitness are ineligible for the pioneer corps, provided they can satisfy the tribunal that they are opposed to the Nazi or Fascist system and are loyal to the Allied cause. The number of such cases is estimated roughly at 2000.
