CHECK TO STUDIES

MILITARY SERVICE

STUDENTS' DIFFICULTY

AUTHORITIES TO DECIDE

The difficulties which medical students encountered through having: to go into camp, thus interrupting- their training, were mentioned before the Wellington Man-power Committee today, when a medical student who is about to go to the Medical School at Dunedin appealed for a postponement of his military service obligations.

When called up he had asked to be taken into camp immediately, he said, but the authorities could not take him until the end of March. , By that time his studies would have been resumed.

It was reported that the whole ques-r tion of medical students wa3 being investigated by the authorities in order to ensure that their studies should not be unduly interrupted by Territorial training.

Members expressed the opinion that the University authorities should endeavour to adjust the course of training to fit in with the military obligations of students—even if it' meant an intensification of study and a reduction of holidays. The case was adjourned.
